Microgravity Teacher's Guide
GRADES 5 - 12
Microgravity Teacher's Guide
Microgravity Teacher's Guide was created by NASA
If you want to teach about principals of gravity and why it's useful to conduct laboratory experiments in an environment that minimizes the effects of gravity, you've come to the right place. This guide describes different ways to achieve microgravity, reasons why microgravity science is important, and includes activities on fluids, combustion, materials science, and biotechnology, all of which act differently when the effects of gravity are minimized.

Educators' Programs

The Web is home to a wealth of programs designed for teachers and students. NASA is a great place to start: visit their
Welcome to NASA's Education Program page for all sorts of answers.

Another outstanding resource for teachers are the members of the Aerospace Education Alliance (AEA), a group of organizations devoted to promoting aerospace education. Visit their Web sites to get on board:

Also, a partnership between NASA and the National Science Teachers Association provides two excellent programs. These sites have information and applications:

All About Space

There's an amazing amount of space content on the Web these days. More than ever before, updates and images from the space program are readily available to the general public. Here are some favorite sites to find photos, data, lesson plans and even a game or two.

NASA Office of Space Flight
For the latest information on all manner of space missions, this is the place to go. The site thrives on current events and is constantly updated. Visit often!

National Space Science Data Center
Don't be fooled by the name -- though "space data" may sound a bit dry, this site is packed with easy-to-find information on NASA's planetary and lunar explorations.

NASA Fact Sheets
They make great handouts and reference documents.

NASA Photo Gallery
Lots and lots and lots of amazing images (along with guidelines for their use).

Amazing Space
Exciting web-based activities primarily designed for classroom use, but made available for all to enjoy.

The Magnificent Cosmos
A special edition of Scientific American all about space. Look for the Space Day Curriculum and Magnificent Cosmos Educators' Guide.

The Nine Planets & Views of the Solar System
Every teacher needs a handy Solar System reference. Here are two, wonderfully organized and loaded with the facts and factoids students and teachers need.

NASA Observatorium
One of the most flat-out fun sites on the Web. Try it and see.

Outer Orbit
Presented by Space News, this site is designed to bring space into the classroom, and includes one of the largest collections of lesson plans on the Web.
